The Fall of Facebook

I left MySpace because of the spamming of comments, fake profiles, and complex slow-loading profiles. The Facebook inbox system replaced many short email messages. Friends shifted from AOL Instant Messenger to a Facebook Chat. Facebook video replaced numerous potential Youtube videos. Facebook attempted to claim the internet but failed due to spam, people, and the structure of the network.

The MySpace spammers have shifted their efforts to Facebook. Potential viruses can be downloaded and spam transfered via accounts. Fake profilers have been friending mutual friends of a network to gain legitimacy. Hijacked groups and pages have become spamming news feeds and inboxes. Apps, groups, and pages have spammed people with invitations from day one. Fake apps, groups, and pages have become more commonplace. "Fakebook" profiles have taken advantage of user's information like credit cards, phone numbers, and emails to sell for profit later.

Facebook has never been slow (due to the minimalistic approach of the network). However, the components have not worked consistently. The biggest offender has been Facebook Chat (which has not worked on a weekly basis). Not to mention, Facebook Video is not only the same level of high quality of Youtube or Vimeo.

The component flaws are only a portion of the disaster. The users are hastening the network toward death. A closed network for college students was destined for prosperity, since their activities are condemn by the rest of society. i.e. underage drinking, drugs, sex, and wild shenanigans. However, when Ma and Pa friended their posterity, a whole new world was revealed unto the rest of society. Although students have much free time, cobwebs are now collecting on their profiles.

Narcissists make up a large portion of heavy Facebook users. So Ma and Pa don't get mad, they untag controversial photos. Narcissists take the time to upload large number of photos of the weekend's adventures. They upload a profile photo that makes that person look ten times more attractive. Instead of real life communicating or quick texting, narcissists facebook each other's walls to show their social prominence. While the narcissist is facebooking, the world is socializing in real, human interactions. Narcissism is an epidemic on social networking sites.

What are the positives of social networking?

Open communication of closed networks allows a previously socially approved person to join in on the conversation.

Real time updates of twitter produce a grassroots version of the media.

Video chat like Skype allows a more real world like communication over long distances.

Open events and groups allow members to receive updates of social activities and can foster greater social interaction in the real world.

If a social network can harness these pros while limiting narcissism and spam, that network will be paramount in the world of social networking.

Rid Automatic Car Breaking to Improve Fuel Economy

While driving downhill, I noticed that my vehicle began to break without my consent.

Automatic breaking may be designed for safety to avoid high speeds. Or it may be to avoid receiving a ticket from increased speeds without pushing the accelerator.

However, increased breaking decreases fuel economy.

Why are Humans Scared of the Dark?

Sight is the main sense. When sight is diminished, there is room in the brain to perceive other senses more intensely. Because the brain is not used to perceiving a sense normally, the brain is not certain of some sensory information from previously minor senses.

According on Gestalt psychology, the brain makes leaps of logic to make a whole thought, idea, or perception. In the dark with diminished sight, the brain has to guess at what certain perceptions are. If a person has watched a few horror movies in life, that person may perceive the sound of a book falling of the shelf as an indicator that a monster is on the way. That guess was the monster; however, the real culprit of the falling book was a slippery book shelf.

How to Save America from Drugs

Each night, millions of adolescents scurry out into the night to get drunk and high to have a good time. It's not just kids doing it, it's adults too. Most of the American population are drug addicts because they need alcohol in order to have a good time.

Based on the assumption, people tend to respond better when told what to do rather than what not to do, we should be telling people what they should do in place of drugs. Self-hypnosis can be used to have a good time without the use of drugs. If it were taught to the American population, I believe drug use would decrease greatly because people would know how to have a good time without the use of drugs.

Personally, I have not been high or drunk. However, I believe the trance state of mind brought upon by self-hypnosis is very similar to being high. At parties friends have told me that I act high when I had previously induced a hypnotic state prior to the party. That trance I have experienced is similar to having a song stuck in your head, except that song is an emotion of happiness or excitement instead.

If hypnosis were used in place of alcohol, there would be no drunk driving accidents. I do not believe you can overdose on hypnosis, so over dose deaths would also be eliminated. Addictions to material substances would be eliminated. There would be no addiction related deaths or crimes brought upon us by addicts trying to receive their fix. Their fix would come from within.

Sexual activities may increase because hypnotic behavior is more desirable. (This is one of the reasons the online pick up community has used hypnosis.) However, the standards of people may also rise with the attractiveness of people. For example, if you are on a desert island with an unattractive person you may have sex because they are best you can get. However, your standards change when you are surrounded by beautiful people.

You don't need drugs or the drug of alcohol to enjoy your night out. Alcohol has been in our culture for years. Apostles wrote of Jesus turning the water into wine 2000 years ago. Happiness chemicals always come from within, you should choose to unlock those chemicals not by taking drugs, but by inducing a self-hypnotic state. Heaven is Boring

Heaven may be boring as hell(pun intended). If human beings perceive the same in heaven as on earth, they will get tired of heaven based on principal of neural adaptation. Total happiness would become boring because there would be no change in happiness.

Seen Donations and Unseen Neglect

I was asking for one dollar toy donations today for children without parents for the holidays. People, who were alone when I approached them, were far less likely to donate than people traveling in a group.

Possibly a solo person had an important destination to go to. Or that person was caught up in thinking, so he or she brushed it off. Bullshit.

People donated to make themselves look good. If it was friends together, they donated to demonstrate their kindness. If it was a parent and child, the parent donated to teach the child good values as an ideal parent would do. If it were two partners, they donated to show that they are loving people. "The Mother Teresa Effect" is when people donate and give only when others take notice.

If a tree falls in a forest, does anyone notice? If a small child cries on Christmas Day, does anyone care?

Of the people that denied giving, many people excused themselves from donating because they had donated through their church. The church people donated in church because other's noticed.

Donating is entirely a social interaction. To receive overwhelming charity, the charitable must know other's being charitable (hosting a charity dinner is a good way to accomplish this). Are people cold hearted? Yes, but as one dwells into the souls of others love is found.

Next Generation of Traffic

Stop signs, stop lights…is stopping really necessary when progressing from point A to point B?

Transportation on the flat surface of the earth, whether it be automobiles, trains, bikes, is mostly limited to two-dimensional travel. To promote full speed travel at an intersection, gravity must be overcome. Roads must be lifted over the top of other roads with vast amounts of resources of land and concrete. Trains require energy to have their routes dug underground or amounts of steel to be lifted in the sky.

Land and space is valuable. A flying vehicle requires no such space on the earth to be used up nor vast amounts of resources. Flying cars may be fictional at the moment. However, helicopters are a real answer to this problem we face today.

Rewind to the early 1900s, if the government had not subsidized the car, we may have found ourselves flying without delay to our next destination.

Ponder that next time you find yourself in a sea of break lights.
